The Provideil Coast (Pro--vi-dēal)

On the eastern side of the continent of Que'Renan lies the Provideil Coast. A twisting line of rocky shores, sandy beaches, and high bluffs that neighbor the Opris Sea. Few people have settled on the coast as there has been no success in building on the land closest to the water. High in the north the winds ravage the bluffs to such great effect that plant life cannot grow and dust overwhelms vision. The bluffs a full 750ft up are mighty in form and treacherous to navigate alone. By the beaches adjacent to the Radia Forest the coast extends at its widest area in over 450 coastal beaches wrought with tempestuous winds and highly reactive black sand that frequently catches stray bolts of lightning from passing storms. Evidence of these lightning strikes can be seen as the tallest hills that connect the beaches are just hardened sand that has been turned into fulgurites from the powerful energy of the storm. Some say that the lightning strikes have miraculously slowly constructed caves and creatures capable of surviving the harsh elements have found a habitat. At the southern end, one can the Jagged Rocks where the tide where the tide is always low and the cutting rocks leave no survivors to be found. Merchants have often reported the water bleeding close to the coast. Many speculate it is an iron deposit rich with metal. Mystics of the Ruby Claw believe the red waves are remnant traces of magic from the Uyyark Hive.

Geography

The Providiel Coast borders the Opris Sea on the eastern side of Que'Renan. In the north upon the bluffs, the land is desolate and connects directly to The Temple Desert. A constant wind storm blocks any chance to navigate by monument and debris is flung about in a haphazard manner that most explorers don't concern themselves with such travels. Heading down, the black sand beaches make up the widest stretch of land along the coast. Neighboring the Radia Forest, the beaches are a mix of metals and cooled lava that has set the beautiful scenery. A rare metal in the sand known as Enerium causes frequent lightning strikes around electrical storms which move up and down the coast attracted to the powerful element. The hills that now connect the beaches are former beaches themselves hardened from multiple lightning strikes. Marine mammals such as Giant Crabs, Sea Lions, and Lizards have made shelters in these hills and are slowly creating a network that leads underneath the Radia forest. It is said that a great king and queen now rule these caverns fairly and kindly. At the southern end of the coast, one can find the most beautiful views the coastline has to offer as the waves crash onto the rocks gazing out to the Soyith Sea. When the tide is high, you may be able to launch a vessel successfully from one of the many bays made available after a long trek through the Altadora Mountains. However, the low tide is the real threat as it reveals many jagged and barbed rocks that cut and destroy ships of any size and stature. Rarely, when the waters calm there is a red liquid that seems to emanate from the rocks. Merchants believe this is a sign of iron deposits off the south coast but in reality, it is the bloody leftovers of animals consumed by brain coral leftover by the Uyyark Hive.

Ecosystem

The storms and waves are the dominant forces present along the Provideil Coast. Few creatures thrive amidst the constant wrath of nature present and therefore the ecosystem is built upon their interactions. Upon the bluffs no creature lives on the surface where the winds rage endlessly, perhaps a deep burrowing creature may reside. Some say the storm is an Elder Tempest spirit guarding the body of their long-dead ruler. Many creatures that reside along the beaches of the coast are amphibious crustaceans or marine animals capable of swimming for long amounts of time and needing time to rest on shore. These creatures have been burrowing deeper into the Earth underneath Radia leading many to believe that an order of sentient creatures have started a society of their own away from the order of the Elves. The Southern coastline lacks a great deal of life as the spawns of the Uyyark seek to devour and imitate creatures of the deep. One can still be able to spot creatures who haven't falling into their body snatching tactics such as Orcas, Narwhals, and even some deep sea turtles.

Ecosystem Cycles

The seasonal cycles take their form as usual across the Provideil Coast however the powers behind the storms seem to care very little as to what effect the seasons could have upon them. The bluffs face no change as the dust still writhes on even in cold climates. The most change that occurs across the coast is the beach as when summer finally arrives the lightning storms strike less frequently and the creatures of the tunnels move about more freely onto the shore. The brain coral often hibernates in the depths of the sea floor during the summer, Seemingly trying to establish some psychic connection to the elders that left them behind so long ago.

Localized Phenomena

The Bluffs of the coast are the ancient domain of a Elder Tempest Spirit who seeks to trick and deceive any who would ascend to their domain or their old masters'. Enerium lighting storms, When the bolt strikes the sand there is a chance that a fire simmering fire may start that is kept warm deep beneath many layers of sand on the beach. If the Enerium is highly localized into one spot the sand turns into fulgurites and is fossizled instantly. The Brain Coral has eaten away at a great deal of bedrock on the southern coast. No one is aware of their parasitic effect on the environment and how they are slowly draining away the life of the southern tip providing a bulkhead for disease and famine to spread rapidly from their Uyyark Masters.

History

The black sand beaches have a direct correlation with magma runoff from the Bright Isles, a collection of islands 60 miles off the coast of Que'Renan. The bluff was from the time of ancients when 10 great rulers oversaw the affairs of the world and adjudicated with elemental fury at their beck and call
