A Fusion of Heritage and Innovation
Basic Aesthetic:
The fundamental aesthetic of Voracian fashion draws inspiration from the myriad cultures of
Old Earth, reflecting the diverse backgrounds of its settlers. Silhouettes from traditional attire like the kimono, sari, dashiki, and cheongsam are intertwined with Western, Middle Eastern, and other styles from Earth. The end result is a mosaic of designs that speak to a shared human heritage.
Materials and Fabrics:
While many outfits still use natural and synthetic fabrics reminiscent of Earth—cotton, silk, polyester—there is a distinct emphasis on incorporating
Plasteel. Unlike its rigid architectural counterpart, fashion Plasteel is treated to be flexible, resembling a translucent, shimmering fabric. It can be embedded with light patterns or made responsive to the wearer's emotions or the environment.
Everyday Wear:
For daily wear, Voracians often opt for comfortable, breathable fabrics combined with Plasteel accents. A typical outfit might consist of a tunic with Plasteel-threaded embroidery, paired with pants that have transparent Plasteel patches, revealing luminescent tattoos or simply adding an avant-garde touch. Accessories, especially jewelry, often utilize Plasteel's transparent and luminous qualities.
Formal and Ceremonial Attire:
For special occasions, the amalgamation of cultural styles becomes even more pronounced. A gown might combine the drape of a sari, the structure of a Victorian dress, and the embroidery of a Middle Eastern kaftan, all crafted in luminous Plasteel. Men might wear suits with Plasteel lapels or traditional robes interwoven with shimmering threads of the material.
Footwear:
Shoes and boots are also not spared from the Plasteel revolution. They often have Plasteel soles which can be illuminated, or transparent sections revealing the foot's arch, adorned with intricate patterns or even living bioluminescent organisms.
Headwear and Accessories:
Hats, tiaras, and headbands often incorporate Plasteel, either as a structural component or as a decorative one. Jewelry, too, leans heavily on Plasteel's versatility—necklaces with floating Plasteel pendants, bracelets with luminous beads, or rings where the Plasteel seems to magically float around the finger.
Special Features:
Given the
Brainstem Interface (BSI) prevalent among Voracians, many outfits come with integrated tech features. This could range from clothing that changes color or pattern based on the wearer's mood to cloaks that can display holographic patterns.
Evolution and Acceptance:
Fashion on
Voracia is ever-evolving, as it continues to absorb new influences with each new generation. However, the embracing of Plasteel, a material so closely tied to Voracia's history and progress, is a testament to the society's blend of reverence for the past and excitement for the future. The attire tells a story of unity, adaptability, and the relentless human spirit to innovate and express.
