Halfing
Halfling in Vontia
During the Reclamation, Halflings found themselves increasingly stereotyped and disrespected by the emerging peoples of the central and eastern regions of Vontia. This led to a gradual migration over the course of thirty to fifty years, with many Halflings moving northward. These settlers sought refuge in the unsettled northern regions, eventually forming dense, tight-knit communities in isolation from the larger, often hostile, societies of the central lands.
After the Thirty-Year War for Vollis and the eventual formation of the Kingdom of Vollis as a separate political entity, Halflings began moving into the more fertile and temperate regions of the western kingdom. The draw of the region’s lush, agricultural lands allowed them to once again reform their close-knit communities, away from the overarching pressures of larger societies. Though the Northern Kingdom did not perpetuate the same stereotypes or blatant disregard for their nature and abilities as central societies had, life there for the Halflings was more about survival than thriving. This prompted a slow but steady spread toward the southern lands of Vontia.
In the most recent two centuries, Halfling communities in Formir have begun to break down, with many migrating south at a much faster rate than their ancestors ever did. The cultural consistency between the distinct Halfling communities in Formir and Vollis has allowed them to adapt to simpler, more comfortable ways of life. This shift marks a transition from their previously isolated survival-based communities to ones that are more integrated into the larger societal fabric of Vontia.
