Galactic Cataclysm

A galactic event which saw the Milky Way and Galactus Occultatum collide, creating the Argen Galaxia. This new galaxy took several million years to form, but because the two galaxies were both moving in a similar direction, the destruction wasn't nearly as great as the predicted merger with Andromeda. Galactus Occultatum wasn't discovered by humans, as it's centre lined up perfectly with the centre of the Milky way, as seen from Earth. It wasn't until humans became part of the galactic community that they first heard of this new hidden galaxy.

During the collision most species either evacuated their home planets or sheltered underground. Many planets were lost, either destroyed or moved far from their original orbits.
