Chione Amari

Career

At the Academy

Chione, often only called Amari, is one of the Academy's martial and social teachers. She teaches Martial Arts, Social Skills as well as a subject called "Gadgetry", where she teaches students on how to fight dirty and use whatever items they have to create and advantage. She is seen in high regard by most students and teachers and is one of the more well-known instructors.  

Before the Academy

Before becoming a teacher for the younger generations of, mostly, monks and rogues, Amari was a prizefighter. Born and raised in one of Astoria's many poor villages, she learned the importance of appeasing those superior to her. And so she began to use the skills she had acquired on the streets and began working in one of the numerous underground fight clubs. She made quite a name as well as a fortune for herself but suffered a particularly bad injury in a fight. She journeyed to Hochkarn, the Lesean capital, where a renowned healer lived and stayed there, even after her treatment had ended.  

Fighting Style

"You must know when to fall. And when you do, do it gracefully"

Amari learned to use the narrow alleys and low roofs of her home to her advantage. Even now her combat style includes wall jumps and plummeting strikes. If there are no trees, walls or similar surfaces available, she might flip off of an ally or even an enemy. Unlike most monks, Amari has taken a liking to employing all manner of gadgets and trinkets; distracting and blinding foes with firecrackers, making them cough with powder packets or employing rope and her staff to trip opponents. All is fair in love and war, after all.  

Family

Lexter Amari

Her only known family is her adoptive son Lexter. She had found him in the wreckage of a burnt down village and took him to the capital. Initially she wanted to put him into the local orphanage but a fellow teacher remarked that he had felt latent magical power in the boy and thought it might be a bad idea to have him running around in an environment not prepared for magical outburst. So, she took him in and raised him in the academy, where he was taught how to control his powers by the arcane teachers and acquired many skills essential for a wandering adventurer.  

Chaotic Influence

Born a couple of days after The Scarring, Amari was exposed to the fading energies of the tear in the planes. The Scar doesn't have a lot of influence on Chione, the rift in the fabric of reality gave her a slight connection to The Eternal Battlefield, granting her an unnatural affinity with almost all weaponry.  

"Ganzis with lineages that link to the valkyries manifest their heritage in their skill in combat. Such ganzis are always proficient with all simple and martial weapons, and they can qualify for feats normally available only to fighters even if they don’t have any fighter class levels."
