As an aside...

I'm probably going to be rather loosey-goosey when it comes to my goals for WorldEmber. I'm essentially doing NaNo twice. I completed it in November, but some of my friends were unable to participate, so we're doing it again in December. In that vein, I'll be doing a lot of focus more on character and stories than I will be focusing strictly on world building.

That's why I picked Vnou, really. I like doing world building through characters and stories. WorldEmber is a great excuse to do so. Which is what I did last year.

Be that as it may, I'll be adding to my word count for whatever stories I happen to write even if they don't exactly end up here.

Week 1 Homework

The Pledge

I'll be pledging a total of 50,000 words in the world of Vnou - across character stories and world building. Essentially another NaNo. ¯\(°_o)/¯ So, official focus : characters and stories.

The Meta

I'm pretty content with my Meta after my rework and addititions from last year when my focus was character building. I might tweak it a bit, but since I'm coming in under the wire... Probably not.

Week 2 Homework

Review the Frontpage / Primer

This is another thing I touched on last year. Since I've been a touch away from writing and doing things - one of the reasons I'm doing WorldEmber at all is to get back into writing - I don't really have much to add to the front page. Plus.... I think it's pretty. Same goes for the Primer. Not much to add and it's something I've already tweaked a bit with last year.

The C's

Community and CSS. One I'm decent at, the other - not so much. The CSS I'm rather pleased with. I think the pages are pretty, I've got a nice flow for how I lay out my pages more or less... But when it comes to Communities... I'm easily disheartened and disenfranchised. It's 100% a me thing but I sorta get lost in the giant crowds and I've struggled this year to find a niche to fit. My creativity has sorta suffered for it. Trying to maintain a positive outlook and keep at it... But. That's always been a weakness of mine.

Week 3 Homework

Inspiration

I've already been doing a lot of reading lately - it's something that satisfies my creativity when I'm not doing any writing - but I could read some more things that are geared more toward the Vnou setting. Touching base with the initial inspiration for the world would be the rereading Calluvia's Royalty by Alessandra Hazard. I had been reading a lot more supernatural things for my Monstrous Addicts series so maybe returning to that would help.
