WorldEmber Prep 2025
Well, here goes nothing! I've been using World Anvil on and off for a few months now to prepare for homebrew worlds in table top games I run, but all this preparation hasn't led to fleshing out these worlds and improving my writing the way I would like. It's about time I address that and flesh out myself and my worlds, and what better way to do it than to take on the challenge of writing 25k words for WorldEmber 2025?
I have no idea if I'll be able to achieve this goal, but if there's one thing I know, it's that passion and determination can lead to amazing things. Maybe I'll get to the goal. Maybe I won't. One thing's for sure: I'm going to create to my heart's content, and I'm thrilled to begin writing and exploring my passions again.

Oh wow I had absolutely nothing written down at first. I fixed that to the best of my ability! Let me know how I did https://www.worldanvil.com/author/Demonic_Goddess
I'm also hoping to start adding more journal entries as a way to keep myself writing every day, which ties into Join the Community!
Define the scope of your worldbuilding for Worldember
I think one thing that I often fail to think about when writing and worldbuilding is how the key elements I want to add will affect the entire world around them. I have an idea for a unique setting where gods and monsters walk the streets with us, which sounds neat, but how does that affect the political system? Are there changes in mindset and culture when implementing this drastic change? In order to really get the writing engine going, I would like to establish these fundamentals as my main focus and build up from there. As I have pledged to focus on 3 different worlds for Worldember, I will outline their fundamentals one by one. (Note: If you're a player in one of my settings, stop reading now unless you want spoilers!)
Souhaltenfell
A country wished into existence by the gods all focusing their power into one powerful artifact: The Scroll of Omniwish, a legendary treasure hidden in this blessed land. They say that it was used thousands of years ago to seal a great infernal evil and use the country itself as its prison. With this in mind, we now have a land practically overflowing with divine and infernal energy all around, and this balance constantly being threatened by the dreaded return of this great evil. What does that look like? What beliefs have been built around this legendary tale? Are there some areas where infernal energy is stronger than divine, and vice versa? And what of The Scroll? Does its existence cause travelers to flock to Souhaltenfell in hopes of finding this sacred treasure? Does that mean that traders thrive due to selling adventuring gear? With the fundamentals of Divine vs. Infernal and a treasure at the heart of this conflict, there's a lot to be expanded upon.
Vlandaren
Vlandaren was created due to a God of Light and God of Darkness colliding in an epic battle, the aftermath fueling life and putting them both in hibernation. In extremely rare circumstances, leftover portions of their power will be released, creating prosperity with Light, and calamity with Darkness. However, it differs from Souhaltenfell's Good vs. Evil conflict with the fundamental aspect of inequality and war: Those closer to Darkness, while more prone to conflict, are more grounded and willing to co-operate with others regardless of status. Meanwhile, Light provides prosperity and good will, but also gluttony, and those most influenced by Light will only want more for themselves. Is this change in personality known in this world? What kind of society forms when conflict and camaraderie are the most important, or when accumulating as much wealth as you can is the most important? Do these Light and Dark societies work together? Do they hate each other? How does this change in personality and environment affect the wildlife of each continent? These are the questions I can start asking and answering by refining how Light's greediness and Dark's aggression play a part in this world's order.
Stashu'une
This time, no epic battles, no Good Vs. Evil. The world of Stashu'une isn't just a world, but a living thing: a God potentially older than time itself, with the legendary Divine Freight functioning as its immune system. Wherever this godly train travels, harvests are bountiful and hunts come back with enough food to last months. Monsters also weaken immensely as it passes and are forced to retreat to their dens before disintegrating in its presence. However, as the Divine Freight is the immune system of this Planet God, it is only called upon to fend off plagues and ailments that would threaten the health of this God, and only in specific areas. How does a world build around an occasional blessing from the God they walk upon? What does the world look like when the Divine Freight isn't around for months, years, decades even? Of course this phenomenon would generate some sort of religion around it, but what kind? Are there multiple sects? Are there cities or nations that see the train more often than others? Does this create a divide between settlements? These are the building blocks I will work with for Stashu'une, and by focusing on a living, breathing world with its own immune response, I can better dive into what that world looks like and how different events play out.
Read a book
This is a tricky one. I do have a lot of books already, but a lot of them are ones I've already read which I don't think fully counts. So! I will make a list of books I have and haven't read, and mark down each one I've completed and my thoughts on the book. I'll add edits to this portion as I finish books and note what I liked and didn't like about them.
To Read:
- "I Kissed A Girl" by Jennet Alexander
- "Red White & Royal Blue" by Casey McQuiston
- "Thirsty Sword Lesbians" by April Kat Walsh
(note to self: get more fantasy novels)

Make a list of articles you want to write
This is a tricky one, as there's so many directions I could go. For the time being, I think focusing on the main building blocks of my worlds will help me build from there, so I will move from more general topics to specific ones as I go along. So, for each setting:
Souhaltenfell
Timeline and Specific Events, Points of Interest, Calendar, and the Magical Anomalies found throughout the land.
Vlandaren
Settlements and Points of Interest, Pantheon, Class System, Economy, and Major/Minor Political Factions.
Stashu'une
The Divine Freight that the world is built around, Religions and Beliefs, Beastiary, Landscapes, and a mini-timeline depicting all the times people attempted to rob The Divine Freight.

Well, I am already in the discord, but I'm not really active in there a whole lot, and I'm definitely not active on the World Anvil site. Time to change that up! I'll be engaging in the discord and I'll start making some daily journal entries to dive right into the heart of the community!
