Orc Demise

Orc culture is considered barbaric by most others. Whereas there is evidence of this, men and elves commonly believe that this is due to the orcs being mindless savages and that there is little reason for their barbarian way of life. The truth of the matter is that the orcs have taken this path by choice, an effort to avoid a foretold demise.    During the Before Times, the orcs were a race that desired elegancy. They had proper manners, honored customs, and respect for one another. Their ruling lord was chosen as the most faithful and caring. They relied on magic as a research tool, providing new ways of healing, protecting, and predicting the future. An orc priestess had a vision detailing the ultimate demise of all orc-kind. She envisioned tall, pale warriors from the west invading their shores, rampaging through their camps with ease, and slaughtering all orcs without mercy. She could not tell how long into the future she had seen, only that it was inevitable. The orc lord at the time had a desire to stop these events, thinking that if they were ready for the incoming invasion they could stop the assault.    Orcs, being a naturally strong and fearsome race by blood, decided to throw their desired elegance aside and instead strive to become powerful warriors. All customs they had were hastily displaced by those of war. The ruling lord was replaced by a chief, those orcs who considered themselves the strongest warriors fought each other for the role. All priests and priestesses were executed, believing that their strength would be their only ally against the incoming terror. Once those who practiced magic were wiped out, those born with the gift were executed once the magic peaked its ugly head.
