Galren City

An ancient Elven city named for its most famous ruler and protector, Galren. Previously known as Greenspire for Feyfane wizard's tower overlooking the city with its notable green roof.   The city is split into three districts connected via birdsong alley which spans the perimeter of all three.   Districts
  • The Crown District: Where the ruling family and the aristocratic class live.
  • Feyfane: Where the rest of the Aristocratic class live. Two notable buildings: A large tower owned by the strange Daxius. A temple said to contain one of the stones of Rin, guarded and only a select few may enter.
  • Hartsdale: Where the working class lives in squalor. Dilapidated buildings, beggars, and crime.
  Places of Note:
  • Harts Market: Working class market. Sell necessities to live. Mainly food and working tools. Rumors of a black market in this area as well.
  • Jeweled Market: Ample amount of art, decorated furniture, jewelry, and other fine elven atrisan goods.
  • Feyfane Temple: Temple which holds artifacts owned by the ruling family. Most notably the crown jewels.
  • Feyfane Tower: Current residence of the self proclaimed Archmage Daxius.
  • Birdsong Alley: Route built around the perimeter of the three districts. Pathway is lines with trees and vegetation and is home to many species of bird whose song can be heard as you walk through.
  • Galren Palace: Palace of the ruling family in the crown district. Can only be accessed by Elves with a royal invitation.

Demographics

Pre-Siege: Primarily Elves. Halflings, dwarves, and gnomes can also be found but only in the districts of Hartsdale and Feyfane.   Post-Siege: Majority Elves with minorities of halflings, dwarves, gnomes, and humans.

Government

Monarchy: Direct decedents of Galren still run the city though they seldom make public appearances.

History

During the early years of the 3rd age, an accord was made between the Elven tribes of Picris forest and human settlers. The agreement allowed man to settle a new city near the large lake south of the forest and in return they would help create a similar settlement for the elves in the heart of the forest. The human settlement would come to be known as Chey and the elven settlement, Greenspire. As a result of the exchange of ideas between the two peoples, Chey was built in a human architecture style with elven materials and inspirations, and Greenspire was built in an elven architecture style with human materials and inspirations. A lifelong bond was forged between the sister cities, commonly allied in times of war and aid was sent in times of need.

Architecture

Built during the 3rd age along with it's sister city of Chey as a partnership between Elves and Humans, Galren (Greenspire) has a unique elven architecture style built with typical human materials.
