Personal history

Alem was born into a family of sailors, the Seawoods, who had a proud history of serving in the Sun Coast Navy for generations. As a young boy, he spent most of his time on the water, learning the ways of the sea. He was a natural sailor and quickly rose through the ranks, becoming a boatswain at a young age. Despite his success in the navy, Alem longed for something more. He yearned for adventure and to have more control over his life. He eventually left the navy and took to piracy, sailing the seas and living a life of freedom and excitement. For a time, he was content with his new life, but eventually he found himself caught after a botched escape from a nighttime raid. He was taken back to Sun Harbor where he was at the mercy of a local justiciar named Kaya, who took pity in him.   As a follower of the god of justice, Kaya believed that Alem should be held accountable for his actions. However, she also saw that he had the potential to be a valuable asset to her cause. She offered him a deal: he could either face punishment for his crimes, or he could swear his life to the service of Mondis and help her newly formed group restore his connection to the realm.   Alem chose the latter and joined the Sun Blades, eager to prove himself and make amends for his past. While he missed the freedom of the open sea, he found that he enjoyed the company of his new companions, particularly Liriene. Her carefree and adventurous spirit was contagious, and he found himself drawn to her.   Now, as they journeyed to retrieve the celestial stone, Alem was determined to prove himself to Kaya and the rest of the group. He knew that he had made mistakes in the past, but he was ready to do whatever it takes to help restore Mondis's connection to the realm and make a difference in the world.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Alem is motivated by his thirst for adventure and excitement. He desires freedom and independence which led to his days of piracy. Initially resenting and resisting his life in the Sun Blades he has come to respect Kaya and strives to do right by her, however, his love of carousing and reveling tends to hold him back. He truly desires to make amends for his past mistakes and prove himself to his companions, but it seems that the mistakes only keep piling up. An underlying motivator for many of Alem's exploits also stem from a want to impress Lirienne whom he takes a particular liking to.
