Pruning Nomads
Like the paths which wind through cities, the main routes between settlements is one that needs maintaining. A small workforce dedicate their time and efforts to keeping these roads safe and easy to access. From removing debris to trimming road edges, the Pruning Nomads are people whose work often goes overlooked.
The role of a pruning nomad is varied and requires a long time on the road. Ranging from weeding the edges of transport routes to clearing out nearby monster nests and lairs. Anyone who wished to become one of these gardening nomads needs to be skilled in multiple ways and be adaptable to whatever the roads lays before them.
Many wish to one day become a Pruning Nomad. With the opportunity to consistently travel from town to town and payment from each settlement they travel between making it a very well paid profession. The uniform proved also holds a sign of respect not just from settlements but to many bandits and outlaws, deeming it too much hassle to bother a Pruning Nomad. This uneasy alliance has also been cemented overtime by bandits and these wild gardeners temporarily joining forces to aid one another. The downside is that many nomads are stationed on the same route which becomes boring for adventure seeking travellers. The time required to be away from home is also a deterrent for those with family and other personal commitments. Finally the chance of encountering monsters or bandits/outlaws or Necromancers is real, one that many choose is not worth the reward.
Responsibilities:
It's a service many overlook. But it has to be done. And they do a fine job. So much so that I brought a small team to service the streets of Sianwood. I know they aren't paid as much as the ones who travel from here to Ohar, but it is safer for sureWhile there isn't a list of requirements for the job, there are a few things employers expect from every Pruning Nomad. The first is that they have substantial knowledge on wildlife and common plants in the area in order to handle problem they encounter. The second is that they must be able to handle themselves in a fight. The chances of coming across a wild beast or bandit brigade is moderate and thus must be prepared. The final expectation is to well trained in a multitude of gardening tools before starting.
