Elemental Beasts of Violem
On her quest to find and record every known animal across Violem, Osarri, Acuran of Animals encountered many creatures that were in tune with the natural elements. Similar to the Alum but with a lower level of intelligence. The following extracts come from her personal journals about encountering each one.
Argen
I was simply transfixed by it when I first saw it. I knew how dangerous it was, of course, but to see its shimmering body with my own eyes was simply thrilling. And, thinking about it now, I can't quite describe exactly what it is I saw. All I know that it shimmer in the night, like a beacon in the darkness of the forest. If it wasn't for my guide, I think I would have fallen straight into its trap. From what I keep hearing in Ascor is that Argen will show you what you want to see. Somehow they tap into your mind and pull out your personal desires. Then, they lure you in with a false image. A mirage of sorts, hiding their true form. I still don't know what they look like, alive or dead. For when my guide took the final blow, it fell into a pile of silvery ash. Maybe it doesn't have a form, or one that can exist in this realm. All I know is, I can't stop thinking about its beauty.Blinkka
I had heard about this kind of fish before, but it wasn't until my trip to Ascor that I actually saw one. It wasn't what I expected, I suppose when someone mentions a fish to tend to look into the water. Certainly not in the sky above, and I would have never guessed ones would get its beak stuck in the sail of our ship. As creatures go, I am afraid this one was rather... peculiar looking. With the beak of a flattened Chirper but the scales of a Riverfin. And then somehow, it also appeared to croak like a toad and dangled a fleshy light in front of its face. I can't imagine that is very practical, it would get in the way. Maybe that's how it ended up in the sails?Stats

In-Ka-Tan
Now, I had to travel pretty far to find an In-Ka-Tan in the flesh. Fortunately there was some helpful sailors who were trying to map out the Untouched Lands and offered to help me on my quest. Pointing out all sorts of tropical and wonderful animals. But when I saw this miniature volcano walking around, I couldn't help but walk closer. The sailors tried to pull me back, but I had to explain the importance of seeing it up close. But they insisted and warned me it might spew hot lava at my face, I am rather fond of that so I eventually decided to listen. It was dome shaped, but more of an uneven shape. As if it should have a point on top of its head? Body? Honestly it all sort of merged into one. And the top was not a point, or peak, but a hollow centre, bubbling from inside itself. Actually I imagine it came from the sac that clung to its lower body. How it never hurt itself scraping something like that on the floor is beyond me. Then again, it did have two rather long legs it seemed to walk around on. I watched it for nearly half a day, and not once did it slump to the ground. Or rest, or perch. Always moving, always stomping around.Stats:

Lhoopun
Tonight has been a bizarre sequence of events. An old friend of mine, Oline, came stumbling through the inn where I have been staying. How she found me I don't know, even more strange is the fact that she has been missing for nearly 15 years! And yet she looked like she hadn't aged a day. She spoke to me about travelling through time and that she was being hunted. I wouldn't have believed her if not for the creatures that soon followed. Wispy, floating spirits of various shapes and sizes, smoke seeping out of what I can imagine are their bodies. Almost like a ghost, but it wasn't in the shape of an dead sorcerer. No, these were various clocks, pocket watches and sundial. Each with beady eyes and a life of their own. I tried to help Oline, I really did. But she vanished into thin, quickly followed by those things. I do hope she is alright.Stats

O-Sillo
Ah yes, very dependable transport. fur covered backsides that are comfy to sit on, smooth horns to hold onto and a speed which makes them favourable for any long distance between cities. Ah yes, I do enjoy a ride on these hooved animals. And the speed they go as well is impressive. It would have taken me days to walk to Drovvin if I hadn't used one of these. Found mostly anywhere where there is rocks and stone. I did hear though they can traverse any terrain with ease and efficiency. If they are anything like my trusty little friend today, I would be inclined to agree.Ullas
As much as I enjoy seeing just one of these dehydrated bat creatures on their own, finding multiple all at once is a different matter. Yes, I know quite a lot of people find their faces unsettling, they do resemble some form of deformed skull afterall, but that isn't their fault. And their thin, ragged, bony wings still keeps them in the air. I found one a few weeks ago, fluttering around on the edge of the woods. It didn't seem to have any remaining skin left on its wings, yet was still flying with ease. Without studying them closer, I would suggest there is some form of aura propelling them into the sky. If a Sabren can absorb it from the ground, why not the Ullas?Stats
