Ketherian fever
The Ketherian fever was a disease that originated in the village Kether not far of Nalporta. Due to the paralyzing nature of the disease it didn't spread very far at first, but when it hit Nalporta it quickly spread all over the continent, hitting Domum the hardest.
Transmission & Vectors
The fever was spread through the inhalation of the bacteria which was often exhaled by those that were already infected.
Symptoms
symptoms varied with everyone but some symptoms were always present
- high fever
- paralysis from the knees down
- diminishing of hunger
- extreme thirst
Treatment
The original treatment of the disease was to stay in bed, weather the storm and to make sure the patient got enough food and clean water to fight off the disease. At a later time in the plague crisis it was discovered that a tea brewed of Krefleaf helped easy the paralysis and helped combating the fever.
Prognosis
Most that contracted the disease fell in a fever nearly instantly (within 10 minutes) and got paralyzed on their way home. Those that where found where often left in the streets out of fear that others might become contaminated. Those that got to bed often had a much higher chance of survival if given food and enough clean water.
Sequela
The disease ver rarely left traces on the body, most specifically on Elves whom sometimes lost all sense of community and preferred to go live in the wilds instead of the cities. These Elves adapted to their surroundings and are now called Wood Elves.
Epidemiology
The disease spread very easily through the air and remained alive while airborne for up to 24 hours. this led to mass infection in frequently traveled streets or alleyways.
