Almaase

The Fortune Teller

In the salons of Daerington, one name commands hushed reverence—Almaase. To some, she is the enigmatic figure of aristocratic circles, firmly grounded in her salon, where the elite seek her wisdom on matters of fate. Yet, whispers persist, hinting at another Almaase, one whose roots lie in the traditions of a wandering people, a nomadic heritage that never quite fades from the memory of those who knew her then.

In those earlier days, Almaase was known for her deep fear of the creatures of the night, surrounding herself with garlands of garlic and even crafting a special perfume meant to ward off such dark entities. But something has shifted. Draped now in flowing black, her once vibrant attire and free-spirited essence replaced with an eerie elegance, Almaase greets her patrons with the same sharp intellect, though her air is now heavier, as if she no longer fears what once haunted her.

The nobles who visit her speak in whispers, not only of her famed predictions but of rumors—faint and fleeting—that perhaps Almaase has confronted the very creatures she once feared. Her loose hair and darkened demeanor evoke visions of a woman who has crossed a boundary, lured by what she once repelled.

What truly happened to Almaase remains unknown. Has she always been this way, or did her path fork into something more elusive, something darker?
