Overrail: The Future of Urban Motion

The Overrail is Cerellea’s next-generation pod-based transportation system—a fully automated, above-ground AI-operated transit solution designed for seamless, personalized urban travel. Developed by SkyMaid Corporation, Overrail is now considered a vital public service across Cerellea’s cities, rivaling buses and trains in usage, reach, and cultural visibility.

Glide Above the Streets

Each Overrail pod glides silently on elevated mag-rail tracks that run parallel to traditional roads, weaving between traffic and infrastructure like a modern streetcar. The tracks use advanced magnetic propulsion similar to maglev trains, powered directly by Cerellea’s national energy grid. In the rare case of a power outage, pods come to a complete stop at the nearest designated station, where safety doors and internal release handles are available for manual exit.

Pod Types

  • Standard Pod – Seats up to 4 passengers.
  • Extended Pod – Seats up to 9 passengers (size of a small van).

AI-Driven Comfort

Each pod is fully AI-operated, meaning there are no drivers or transit staff inside—only the riders invited to share the journey. All pods are equipped with gull-wing doors for easy access, and include wheelchair-locking platforms, anti-slip floors, and adjustable lighting, making them accessible for elderly and disabled passengers alike.
Inside the pod, the design is sleek and minimalistic, with softly cushioned seats, a quiet ambient hum, and unobstructed views of the real world outside through smart-tinted LED windows. Riders can hold quiet conversations, relax, or travel in silence—unbothered by strangers or chatty drivers. Interior lighting adjusts dynamically, and each pod maintains a consistent internal temperature year-round.

Built-In Safety Features

Safety and security are key priorities. Every pod includes:
  • One discreet surveillance camera in standard pods; two in the extended model
  • Emergency stop protocols
  • Predictive collision sensors
  • Personal panic request buttons
  • Manual door handles in case of AI failure or override needs

Rail Pass & Accessibility

Pods are summoned via Rail Pass—a universal Cerellean transit pass that links to the user’s ID. Pricing is based on distance and typically only a few credits more than a traditional bus ride, making Overrail widely accessible across social classes.

Limitations During Peak Hours

Though the system is incredibly efficient, it isn’t perfect. During peak hours, especially after workdays or public events, riders may need to wait several minutes for a pod—particularly when requesting extended models.

Station Security

Security at stations is maintained by SkyMaid and government oversight. Each Overrail station is equipped with:
  • Multilingual AI kiosks
  • Digital Rail Pass scanners
  • Real-time traffic boards
  • On-site surveillance
  • Security staff during peak travel hours

National Reach

Pods operate in every major Cerellean city and are becoming symbolic of modern urban life. While rare in rural regions due to lower demand and infrastructure constraints, expansion efforts are ongoing. Traditional rideshare services have quietly disappeared since Overrail’s rise, a transition marketed as a move toward safer, more accountable travel.

Unbreakable Code

Cybersecurity is among its most advanced features—each pod runs on an encrypted network and is considered practically unhackable. Even the Syndicate has limited surveillance access within the pods, relying instead on station-level monitoring when needed.

A Symbol of the Future

The Overrail has changed how Cerelleans commute. Nicknamed “MagCabs” by locals, they’ve redefined travel as a private, stylish, and safe experience. Though once seen as a novelty, Overrail pods are now a daily expectation—ubiquitous and deeply woven into the city’s rhythm.
