Goblinoids
While every species in Vhakatshu is capable of magic via the dream spirits that guide them through life, goblins are the exception. Goblins do not dream. While the true cause for this has never been determined, theories include that Orasil, for some reason, has chosen to ignore or neglect them, or that goblins are simply unaware of dreams and dream spirits do try to talk to them but the goblins never notice. The latter is usually considered the more likely since some goblins who try hard enough are capable of utilizing magic. Often when a goblin and a dream spirit do interact, it has a very chaotic effect. This can cause a drastic change in the personality of the goblin or simply create wild magic effects. Goblins are resistant to the effects of both dreams and nightmares. This lends credence to a third theory, that goblins inextricably have more resolute minds than other species, protecting them from the influence of anything that could affect their mind.
Like most species, though, goblins can hybridize with humans. The result tends to be far stranger than either goblins or humans. When the father is human, it leads to the creation of a hybrid with a human's size and physical adaptability with the violent tendencies of a goblin. They are much taller than either species, hairier than a human, and with longer arms than a human. Like goblins, they possess very little capability for magic. If the father is a goblin, the child tends to be shorter than a human and taller than a goblin. It shares a human's mental adaptability with a goblin's violent tendencies and does possess an aptitude for magic. This also makes them more susceptible to nightmares than other goblinoid species. The former is a bugbear and the latter is a hobgoblin.
