Session 3: Trouble in the Forest

General Summary

The party continues on their journey to the capital. Emberanne talks with Tófa and convinces her to train her to fight, and Leo continues practicing his lute-playing.

On the 5th day of their journey, the caravan grins to a halt, as they find a demon corpse in the middle of the road, and hear the clashing of weapons in a nearby forest. Leo takes one of the horns from the corpse and buries it, praying that Goblin Jesus will bless the demon. Meanwhile, the rest of the party goes charging off through the forest to investigate. They stumble across a group of mercenaries lead by a man named Severin fighting a single heavily wounded demon, surrounded by the corpses of 5 others. Emberanne casts witchbolt and fries the remaining demon. Following some not-entirely friendly conversation and negotiating, the party leads that Severin's group was hired by the Church of the Flame--the major temple to Josbrunar in the capital--and eventually the party manages to get permission to loot the corpse of the demon Emberanne killed. Adrytheth harvests teeth from the demon, and Creed takes its tongue. In its pockets, Emberanne finds some strange coins made of a blackish metal with a jagged hole in the center that Arytheth recognizes as the currency of the underworld.

2 hours later, right as the caravan is setting up camp for the night, a scream is heard from nearby. The party runs to investigate, and finds a peasant being attacked by twig blights. They defeat the twig blights, and Emberanne goes to find the peasant who ran off. He turns out to be an absolutely gorgeous but incredibly awkward fellow named Rann Deuddmann [yes, I'm making his canon name Dudeman, fight me], and flirtatious shenanigans ensue. The party and Rann return to the caravan and settle down for the night. Emberanne sits in Rann's fireplace and lights herself on fire on her soulbound and fireproof camping stool [who needs Divine Intervention when you can roll a 100% on having a camping stool?] and they talk for hours. Emberanne "accidentally" leaves her cloak at Rann's camp, then leaves.

The party is now roughly 2-3 days out from the capital of Braggo.
