Braggo

Nestled in the foothills of the Talgyr range, Braggo is the capital of Veturoth, and one of the oldest settlements. Characterized by a haphazard mix of ancient stone buildings with sloping roofs and newer wood and thatch buildings, Braggo is a city whose people are as diverse as its buildings. Its most distinguishing feature is the ancient city wall carved from the stone of the hills themselves. Though the city has since expanded beyond these walls, with a newer wooden stockade around the outskirts, the city's beating heart still resides within the ancient Hillwall, with most of its administrative and religious buildings being clustered within the ancient parts of the city. Braggo is a colorful city, with thousands of beautifully woven tapestries proudly displayed in windows, and colorful flags flying from posts in the mountain breeze. Though the materials used to build the city are simple and drab, the inhabitants of Braggo seem to take great joy in sprucing up their city, and it is rare to see a building without intricate carvings etched into its walls, and in the richer parts of the city, most buildings are adorned with beautiful mosaics or decorated with metallic fillings in the carved pieces.

Demographics

Though predominatly human like most of Veturoth, Braggo has a fair mix of other races, and is something of an ethnic melting pot. Notably, it has a very large dwarven population, and has historically been very heavily influenced by dwarven culture--immediately apparent in the stonework and colorful tapestries visible throughout the city. There is also a sizable orcish population following a treaty with the Talggri band several centuries ago, and Braggo is known for being one of the few cities with "civilized" orcs, though many a nomadic orc tribe would beg to differ. Regardless, the orcish influence can mostly be seen in the outskirts of the city, where intricate banners on carved wooden totems can be seen flying from almost every rounded hut, and snippets of orcish can be heard in every field, even from the non-orcs who work the outer fields. Notably, Braggo's guard, the Stoneshields, has a very heavy orcish influence.

Government

Like most of Veturoth, Braggo follows a feudal bureaucratic system of jarls. Unlike most of Veturoth, Braggo has a very sizable and powerful merchant class, with many influential guilds, and a forum of craftsmen that is allowed to bring forth propositions to the Jarl and his retainers every month.
