Personal history
Edward grew up as a brilliant academic mind with an intense interest in researching medicine, magic, and biology.
After completing his apprenticeship at the schools in {Calios capital}, he began taking in research projects around Calios, including the Slaughter House.
Towards the end of The Meridan War, Edward approached Christoph von Malistrum with the proposition of a program that could accelerate the rebuilding of the Calian battle mages.
Morality & Philosophy
Edward believes that his research will bring new prosperity to humanity in the form of new medicine and an increased mage population. To that end, he views sacrifices made in the name of said research as necessary.
This is seen particularly clear during his involvement with the Slaughter House as he had little problem manipulating desperate men to unknowingly take part in his experiment and even remarking how their contributions were likely the best use of their impoverish lives.
Taboos
While he is certainly not above some very questionable ethics, Edward does so only when he believes it is necessary. Therefore, he would object to a course of action that he believed to be needlessly reckless or destructive.
