The Threshold

In the Far future, death can be evaded for a while. Sometimes even for a long while. But even death does not need to be the final end. Where there is always the dream to be able to speak to your loved ones, and at the Threshold it is possible. The Threshold is one Massive Station surrounding a sun. In layers upon layers there is a Massive Computer system, while used for more Serious Purposes like science and simulation, the same is being used for those that get attached to the system. 
Those who get their mind Attached to the System gets their own branch. They are in their own world, able to add or remove as their imagination permits. Entire Planets, Systems and even a few of those. They can also invite others to their world or join public ones. This is how your Death can be. Instead of taking a stab into the dark you can attach yourself, assuming you are in good condition, and live in the Other World while even being able to call your family, text them and with a bit of tech even visit them. Besides that, there is also the ability to get yourself a Robot body and re-upload yourself into the Real World but After the Created Rebellion this has been heavily monitored.
