Meta Materials and such were already an extreme benefit for Supply lines, ease of Manufacturing etc. But Still required Mining, Labor and Factories. When Scientists in the Star Union of Nue were Experimenting with Energy they didn't expect to find the next step in the Simplification of Industry and Commerce. What was discovered is the Logical end point of E=mc² , Creation of Mass through light. 

The Interest in this Technology was enormous and was further developed on Roma Magna into a somewhat efficient way of creating quite literally everything. No longer requiring any Transports of most kinds, this was enormous. Nearly anything can be formed with it and is now used in the Core as the Main method of Manufacturing. The Only exception is Gasous materials, they still require either the Meta Gases or a simply the gas directly. 
This technology also found use in Military Application by the creation of Hard-light weaponry.
