Burgomeister

Burgomeister is a high ranking title among Villish society.    It is the title of someone that Lords over a hold.   A Burgomeister's role is simple; they are to draft and publish the local laws of the land they rule over, direct and lead their people for the greater interest of their city, and perhaps most importantly, collect taxes and serve as the representing party of their people for the Huntsman's Court.   Burgomeisters are placed into their position from elections that are held after the death or removal of the previous Burgomeister; a Burgomeister is expected to keep their position for life, and abdicate only when they are either seen as unfit to rule, or through their own passing. Burgomeisters that no longer wish to rule are free to forfeit their power, though they seldom do.
