Blackfingers

The Blackfingers, alternatively known as the Valsaron Thief's Guild, is a crime syndicate dedicated to procuring and obtaining pilfered valuables, extortion, slavery, and other unscrupulous affairs. Though most of their assets and operations take place in Tregaron City The Blackfingers' influence expands far and wide over the entire continent of Tregaron itself. Their guild leader, Valsaron, is known only by name. Very few have had the privilege of meeting Valsaron themselves, and those that do keep his identity and appearance a tight-lipped secret.

Structure

Guildmaster: The De-facto head of the guild. Given the fact that the guild has long been called the Valsaron Guild since inception, it's long implied that their leader has been around far longer than most humans can live. Many often frequently claim him to be an Elven crime lord as a result.   Fingers: The Fingers of the guild have proven themselves worthy enough to earn Valsaron's trust. These guild members have one of their fingers tattooed entirely black. Unbeknownst to them; the ink used in this serves as a method of scrying, allowing Valsaron to see -- and sometimes even communicate, towards anyone that happens to have a literal black finger. Obviously, this is where the Blackfingers derived their name.   Muscles: Muscles are brutish members that have proven themselves capable of handling their own in a fight. They're generally hired to serve as extortionists and accompany the other members of the guild for protection. Muscles are also given to initiates to serve as not only protection, but rudimentary spies.   Initiates: New coming members of the Blackfingers guild are generally simply placed on a one month period; this period of time isn't mentioned to them, but during this time, they're closely surveyed and watched for the sake of proving their trust. Depending on how they behave, they'll become a full-fledged finger.

Public Agenda

The usual 'public agenda' that the guild provides is a save haven or home for what some would consider 'Mongrel races'. Rana, Orcs, Beastmen, and most recently, Kenku, have long served as important members of the guild. While they often cater to those people most, the Valsaron Thief's guild is fond of taking in just about anyone that might be willing to help serve their interests. Most of the business they purvey on the surface is already notoriously known; it's in their title. The Blackfingers are thief's first and foremost, but also partake in extortion, assassination, or information broking.

The Guild's surface goal is to serve as a safe den for anyone that wishes to partake in unscrupulous activity, and those that are discriminated for being branded as criminals. Though this information is not privy to most, their eponymous leader, Valsaron, is a powerful Black Dragon that's believed to have lived in the city of Tregaron the moment it was built.

Assets

Gold, treasure, and riches is of no shortage for the Valsaron guild. The guild specializes in procuring coin through any means necessary, and is more than happy to pay gratuitous amounts of it towards even the lowliest of its ranks. This gives a very strong incentive to join their ranks, for they often appeal towards those that struggle to even make a fraction of their pay.   Muscles: Whenever someone proves loyalty to the Valsaron guild, they often provide a hired muscle to both protect and serve them. Muscles are granted to initiates within around the first week of membership, acting as both spies and protectors.

Slaves: Trafficking is an important part of the Blackfingers' economy. Those unfortunate enough to be caught and 'procured' by the Blackfingers are subject to processes that bend and reshape the mind to their masters' will. Valsaron is known for bending people to do his bidding; those that deny him are swiftly subjugated, and the few elders that know of his true self are often fearful to the point of obeying him without question. Slaves shaped by the Blackfingers come in two ways; Drudges, and Slaves. The Slaves are generally worth more compared to a Drudge. Slaves are sapient and more capable of carrying out complex tasks.

Drudges, on the other hand, are incapable of speech and only capable of menial or simple tasks. Despite that, they're still greatly valued due to their inability to deny their master's commands, with the only exception being if Valsaron himself wills them to do otherwise. Although many rarely know of this due to the swaddling black cloaks and heavy masks they wear, Drudges are actually made from slain victims to be set as an example for the guild. Valsaron shatters their mind and body, reanimating them as husks to serve his bidding.

The Unterhaven: The Unterhaven is a series of networks and tunnels connected to the sewers of Tregaron. Very few locals dare to tread there primarily due to fear; it is a vast, sprawling landscape that is often likened to a city in its own right, and is ran entirely by the Blackfingers' guild.
