Vertex City is a towering metropolis divided by wealth, technology, and power. At its pinnacle lives a young, wealthy girl, sheltered by her overprotective father. She knows he is involved with powerful people—more powerful than him—but she longs for freedom and knowledge beyond the confines of her high-rise world.
One fateful night, her father is killed under mysterious circumstances. Unbeknownst to her, this leaves her as an unprotected target in a very dangerous city. The man who assumes control after her father's death discovers her secret, which only she and her father knew of—that she is the product of illegal experiments, a hybrid of human and machine, meaning she is a dangerous abomination in the eyes of society and the law. To prevent the repercussions that would follow should it be revealed that a dangerous hybrid had been roaming freely throughout the city, the man covers his tracks, disguising his malicious intentions with the hope of a better future for the young girl. He sends her on a mission to explore the lower levels of Vertex City.
However, the girl discovers too late that it was intended as a suicide mission. She is abandoned in the city's dangerous underbelly, left to survive among outcasts and rogue technology. Betrayed and grieving, she must learn to accept the truth of her existence, the consequences of her father's selfish ambition, and the part of her that makes her both miracle and abomination. Left alone to die, she is forced to fight her way through every level of the city in her mission to reclaim what is rightfully hers: her home, her freedom, and her existence.
