The Savage Wars
The Savage Wars -
The Savage Wars were a dark epoch in the history of the griffins, dragons, and elves, marked by bloodshed, betrayal, and grief. Tensions erupted when the elves discovered a deceased dragon within their borders. What at first seemed a territorial violation quickly escalated into outrage once the dragons identified the slain as Prince Flame, heir to the Ember Throne.
Driven by fury and grief, the dragons accused the elves of murder, and war broke out almost overnight. Both factions demanded allegiance from the griffins, fracturing their unity in what became known as the Great Split. Half of the griffins sided with the dragons, seeking honor and fiery vengeance. The other half joined the elves, believing in strategy and survival. This rift tore griffin culture in two and led to devastation on all fronts.
Millions perished, soldiers, innocents, and royals alike, as the war scorched forests, shattered cities, and emptied skies. But behind the chaos lurked a shadowy truth. Moonbeam and Shadow-lake, emissaries of peace from their respective factions, uncovered a sinister plot: Prince Flame had not died in battle, but had fallen victim to assassins—mercenaries paid to provoke a war.
Their revelation turned the tides of history. They brokered a fragile truce, exposing the deception to both elf and dragon courts. Yet peace came at a cost. That night, assassins and bounty hunters sought to silence the truth. Shadow-lake narrowly escaped; Moonbeam did not.
In grief and defiance, Shadow-lake asked for a monument in Moonbeam’s honor. Then she vanished, never to be seen again before it could be built.
To commemorate the peace—and the price paid for it—the elves, dragons, and griffins united one final time. Together, they erected a towering monument in a neutral grove: not just to mourn their fallen, but to promise that truth would never again be buried beneath war again.
