Attackers

The Order of the Attackers In the shadow-veined history of the Hollow Reaches, few titles bear as much whispered weight as that of the Attackers. This is no rank given lightly—it must be earned through unflinching loyalty, unmatched skill, and a willingness to vanish into darkness with purpose. To become an Attacker is to be recognized by the Dark Lord himself—not for slaughter or sorcery, but for precision, silence, and unwavering defense when most would flee. Attackers are professional thieves, but not common cutpurses. Each one has mastered infiltration of warded vaults, evasion of mind-scrying spells, and the art of disappearing through locked dimensions. They have stolen secrets from Elven High-Courts and slipped relics from beneath dragon hoards without waking a single scale. But thievery alone is not enough. One must defend the Dark Lord—not in open battle, but in moments where betrayal simmers in hidden circles. An Attacker guards the Lord’s shadow. They silence dissent before it grows teeth. They unravel plots designed to unravel him. When such a feat is completed, and witnessed by the Lord’s Eyes, the title is bestowed. There is no ceremony. Instead, a single black sigil is burned onto the recipient’s cloak—visible only under moonlight or dragonfire breath. From that moment forward, their name becomes myth. No Attacker is known by birthname. They are referred to only by codenames whispered in taverns and spy dens: Ink fang, Mirror step, Veth. Elves shiver when the sigil appears in mirrors. Dragons snarl in instinctive unease. Even the Griffins hold back from sky-paths when rumors claim an Attacker walks the cliffs. They do not lead armies. They move alone. But where they pass, the Dark Lord’s domain holds firm. And you can be sure that tyranny holds firm as well.
