The Dragon's Maw

The Dragon's Maw is rich with precious metals such as copper, silver, gold, iron, and of course mithril as the name implies, and the rarest of them all, Adamantine!

The first Dwarven clans discovered the fire pit of magma when they first began creating their holds within the mountain range.  Initially thought to be the doorway to the plane of fire, the dwarves were met with creature and demons that burned many of the clansman, but the enemies were beaten back deep enough into the volcano and the dwarves secured their position, holding fast. They discovered that the depths of the mountains had small river's of lava that flowed below their homes.  Using some interesting techniques and their impressive forging abilities, they created a irrigation system for the lava, funneling it into their forges.  The Dwarves noticed that smithing weapons armors and tools were made of a much harder quality when heated with the Volcanos heat source.  As the years went on, the Dwarves discovered their mountains held another precious commodity, one that would change their way of life: Adamantine. This lighter yet heartier metal has proven it self again and again, as it was immediately used to create a pipe system that brought greater quantities of the magma into the forges, allowing for greater mass production of high quality goods.

The Dwarven Forge master of Mithilfjell Mountains have not only used the Volcano as a source for their material and forging, they have also capitalized on people wishing to visit the mountain by supplying those that are brave enough visit the Dragon's Maw with the Forge Master Challenge.    The Challenge consists of reaching the summit of the Dragon's Maw, strapping on a parachute system invented by the dwarfs and using the hot air currents emitted by the volcano to descend within.  The object, descend as low as you can, retrieve a hunk of ore, and escape the volcano with your life.  Many of the dwarfs have attempted this feat as a rite of passage to those learning to work their forges properly.  Some have met their unfortunate demise within the volcano, but thus is the risk taken by those that wish to prove their worth to mountain and to the dwarves.
