Winter solstice celebrations

The people of the port city of Lungo, and the booming city of Fostfara, celebrate "The of Frost of Heragan", a holiday where the locals honor the nearby mountain that holds many unknowns. The holiday is a week long break for owners of shops and businesses, and educators and students alike. The week long event is kicked off by people of the cities placing offerings for the gods outside their doors, to give a person they care about good fortune, this event is called the "Night of wishes", if your offering was accepted by the gods during the night it will be gone, if your offering is still there, your offering was not accepted for various reasons like bad deeds, or bad intentions for the wish. The next day, families exchange gifts and gather in groups. On the third and forth day are free to the celebrators to do as they wish. The fifth day, is the day of the festival. The festival includes a respective city wide celebration in a designated festival area. People admit their care for their families, or their attraction to a possible romantic partner. The festival finishes with a massive potluck-like feast prepared by the citizens. The feast features some traditional foods of the areas, and some home made recipes. The sixth day is another day without any large events. The seventh day is the day of the winter solstice, before nightfall the mages and magic users light up the skies with vibrant and colorful images and illusions. When nightfall hits, the sky is lit up by hundreds of bright lights of greens and purples and blues, with the stars shining brightly. This is believed to be caused by the gods being pleased from receiving their gifts and offerings.   The Northern cities celebrate with similar week long break, and event chain, but in their culture the celebration is called the Lumina Glacialis, or Lights of Ice. The night of wishes, festival, and the mage shows, and the finale of the Auroras made by the gods to show their pleasure of receiving their gifts and offerings.
