Vampyr

When a person is bitten by a vampire , the vampire may sometimes inject the person with a small amount of their own blood. This causes the victim to violently mutate under the effects of the vampiric blood and its hosts magic.

These unfortunate souls are twisted into Vampyrs, sometimes known as lesser vampires. Unlike their progenitors, vampyrs are barely more than lowly beasts, bound to the will of their masters and their new thirst.

Legion of Blood

More than not, Vampyrs are created by Vampires as soldiers for their Vampiric legions. Vampyrs are ferocious creatures, powerful enough to rip a common footsoldier to shreds, and even powerful enough to bypass ordinary armour. Along with pure strength they posess heightened senses, with their sense of smell being especially potent, this also makes them talented assasins and hunters, sent out by Vampires to dispose of opponents or guard areas.

Vampyrs are however not perfect, like vampires they despise sunlight, unlike their masters however, Vampyrs are hurt by the sun and weakened by powerful enough light. This limits their uses to the shadows and night, limiting their usefulness and danger. Vampires work around this but their creations are lesser in any case.

Unholy Creations

A Vampire may choose when turning a mortal, to inject them with more or less of their own blood. Most Vampyrs posess the bare minimum for their tranformation to occur, some however are gifted more. These more powerful vampyr, named Bruxa. approach a more mortal appearance and inherit more power from their masters. These middling Vampyrs are more diverse than both their masters and inferior cousins, having various amounts of divine blood in their veins.

Bruxa are sometimes sentient and display a range of powers, some not even their masters can replicate. This makes them vastly more useful and dangerous than normal Vampyrs, often used as specialist agents by Vampires.

A Dangerous Endeavour

One may think to oneself why vampires don't simply turn every person they bite, this is due to them having to give away their own blood, and thus, power. When a vampur dies, it master seeks its corpse to drink its blood and retrieve what they gave away.
This causes some vampires to be extremely scared of losing their creations out of fear of losing their own blood, yet their usefulness more than not outweighs the risks. However the risk is not negligable, if mortals can slay a Vampyr and drain its corpse the vampire will permanently lose some of their power. In the case of a Bruxa, the loss of power is by no means small.

The Vampyrs can also become a plague if a vampire wills it, or if one dies. Without a master to control the Vampyr, many of them flee to the wilds and terrorize villages and even cities. Sentient Bruxa may settle in cities if they posess an appearance close enough to mortals.
When a vampire dies, their vampyrs also increase in strength, especially if they manage to feast on their master. May any man die swiftly if he encounters these monstrosities of blood and beast

A Plague of Madness

A Vampyr’s mind is as twisted as its body. While Vampyrs remain fiercely loyal to their masters, they often lose any semblance of their former humanity, devolving into brutal, instinct-driven creatures. Their minds are fractured, plagued by fits of rage and confusion, event the sentient of the Bruxa are haunted by fragments of past memories. This relentless bloodlust clouds their thoughts and causes them to lash out.

An untethered Vampyr—those whose progenitor was slain—can become a plagues, monsters rampaging through villages and cities alike. Even the Bruxa are haunted by fractured memories and a tortured psyche, their masters death doing little to ease their existance. The free Vampyr are teetering on the edge of sanity. The death of a master vampire brings a curse upon their spawn: each Vampyr grows more and more volatile, their violent tendenvies and madness having no direction, the legion's once bloody harmonies turn into symphonies of madness.

If a spawn ever manages to feast on their former master’s blood, it will become an even greater monstrosity, a harbinger of death wherever it wanders.
