The Heartbeat

The Heartbeat is an event surrounding the lake Osirants' Heart.   Every year, the lake itself swells with fresh water that is extremely nutrient rich over the course of several weeks. The water level rises to the point that it nearly runs over the high cliffs around it, and sends a floor cascading down the Flail River, flooding most of the Lower Basin of the continent.   This event often coincides with the annual spawning of the Nessuflies, and is looked forward to all in the Lower Basin for bringing The Nessufly Floods.   For those that live in The Middle Plains, the flood of the Heartbeat brings a wealth of foliage and greenery that only grows in the fertile flood water along the banks of the Flail River.
