Veil of Obsidian

Created by

Welcome to Astarath, a land gripped by divine decrees and shadowed truths. At the heart of this world stands the Obsidian Covenant — a theocratic empire forged in the image of Obsidian, the Immutable Sentinel of Order. His doctrine demands unity, obedience, and the ruthless eradication of chaos. Cities rise like black spires from barren ground, and temples echo with sermons that brand dissent as heresy.

But beneath the surface of this seemingly unshakable dominion, the world festers.

What Makes Astarath Unique

This is a realm where faith is power — quite literally. The devout can channel divine energies, not through hope or love, but through rigid devotion and sacred law. Magic is bound by creeds. The more disciplined the mind, the greater the miracle. Yet stray from the path, and the Covenant brands you corrupted, a vessel for the Houses of the Deep — ancient demonic entities that thrive on mortal suffering.

Natural & Supernatural Laws

Order vs. Entropy: The universe trends toward chaos, and only through absolute structure can it be held at bay.   Faithbound Magic: All divine power flows from belief in a greater truth. Faith is measurable, weaponized, and policed.   Agony as a Source: Deep beneath the earth, the Anguishforged twist pain into strength. To suffer is to evolve — or perish.

Core Conflicts

The Obsidian Covenant wages endless wars to cleanse the world of impurity and false gods, convinced it is delivering salvation.   The Houses of the Deep spread madness, disease, and mutiny, whispering sedition into mortal ears. Their horrors rise in the dark.   Mortal kingdoms fracture under pressure — some resist the Covenant’s dominion, others fall willingly, then regret the price.
