Archfactor Quintus Potanius

Archfactor Quintus Potanius leads the Reclaimers' Consortium with both experienced wisdom and youthful enthusiasm. He's earned his position through both skill and experience, but he knows he's not the only voice to be heard. There's no stone he'll leave unturned, no word he won't heed in search of the hidden secrets of the world, and his passion for finding said secrets may only be eclipsed by his passion for sharing them, not just with Sol Sphaera Societas, but with Varzzen as a whole.

Description

Quintus is a small thing, but bursting with vitality even in his old age. Due to said age, he's supplemented his failing body with augmentation designed to survive harsh wilderness, from metallic chitin to mechanical green eyes to a built-in jetpack attached to his back. Over all of this, he, like every other Reclaimer, dresses in standard travelling clothes, always ready for an adventure.

History

Born in 291 AH, Quintus' interests and talents fell towards exploration from an early age. He took on multiple apprenticeships in different Consortiums, including those of Augmentation, Agriculture, and even a brief stint in Childcare, before finding a place in the Reclaimers' Consortium. Quintus embarked on his first expedition outside of Sol Sphaera Societas at age 7, accompanying his master and a few other Reclaimers on a quest to integrate a newly located roach settlement. An encounter with a monstrous spider lost young Quintus his leg, but it didn't deter the spark of adventure he quickly developed. Interacting with the outsider roaches and discovering their secrets didn't hurt - nor did the prosthetic augment he was able to receive once he returned to his home city.

Quintus officially ended his apprenticeship at age 10, becoming a fully-fledged member of the Reclaimers' Consortium. He maintained friendly relationships with many other Consortiums, often by proving the utility of their innovations in the field. Age 21 saw Quintus's first expedition as a leader, which led to an intriguing discovery of ancient ruins containing a large matrix of what were later discovered to be teleportation glyphs. Through the years, Qunitus steadily ascended through the ranks, becoming more and more of an elder statesman of his Consortium, though he never lost the sense of wonder that drove him to join the Reclaimers in the first place. He also maintained a lack of personal safety, flinging himself headlong into danger. He's accounted for consequences with a wide variety of augmentations, which he wears with pride. Finally, Quintus was unanimously elected Archfactor at the age of 53, and has held the title ever since.

The newly elected Archfactor wished to place his discoveries into practice immediately, but faced opposition from the Sunsphere Consortium and its Archfactor, Issaius Maisus. This tension has remained throughout Archfactor Potanius' tenure. The tension increased very recently, when a recently admitted apprentice of the Reclaimers, Lesilla Janus, deciphered a relief of what the Reclaimers later determined to be the once-lost Elemental Harmonizers. Quintus was so impressed that he offered to mentor Lesilla himself, an offer which she happily accepted. Placing a female roach in a perceived position of power has done very little to assuage the Sunsphere Consortium, but Quintus doesn't care - he still has a job to do, after all, and all the Sunsphere researchers seem to do is whine about traditions.

Present

Archfactor Quintus desperately wants to see change in his world, change that would allow everyone the chance to learn and grow without restriction. He chafes against those who would maintain a status quo. He's leaped at the chance to interact with his fellow diplomats in the effort to save Eastern Varzzen from the Cuulminakra and will happily share any information they may need to do it. To that end, he's nominated his trusted friend Morus Provicus as well as Miss Janus to the War Council - their expertise will do wonders for the assembled nations.
