Nal-Karak
The Heart of the Mountain
Hidden from the prying eyes of outsiders, the dwarves of the Amberheart clans toil and thrive underneath the Pillars of Malm. Nal-Karak, or Mountainheart, in the secret dwarven tongue, is the heart of dwarven society in northern Vangard. Centred in a huge carved cavern is the eponomyous Amberheart. A giant uncut gem of amber bathes the underground city in warm flickering light, and has done so for untold ages. The City itself is based on layers spanning miles in every direction, cradling massive pillars and platforms in the titanic foundations of the mountain.
Despite their reclusive nature and dislike of outsiders, there are rumours of VIstain couriers and emissaries dealing with the Amberheart dwarves, even as far as establishing trade and operation in the fabled mountain city of Nal-Karak.
Demographics
Most residents are dwarven, but some of the deeper races are allowed to live in certain areas.
Government
The Amberheart clans form the council that governs everyone residing in Nal-Karak, as well as neighbouring dwarf settlements.
Infrastructure
Massive underground tunnels, lakes and rivers connect the underground nations of the dwarves, but they are prone to collapse and require much upkeep.
