Marie Ó Conaill is released by Cael Ward after more than a month of torture and torment and slowly makes her way to the Hancócs. Despite her body being obviously tainted by the vampire's blood, they clean her up and take care of her. When she wakes to find Rohan Hancóc at her bedside, they talk briefly about what happened but more importantly about what is to come.
