Helping a Brother Out

2023.
“Are we going to actually do something, brother, or are we just going to occupy this motel room until everything blows over?” Niamh asked from where she was sprawled across one of the two beds in their room in the Frisco Inn.
Damon looked over at her from where he stood by the window of their room on the second floor, watching what traffic there was currently in town as the evening wound down. He sighed and replied, “I don’t think going to inform our brother that we’re both alive while he has somehow gotten himself embroiled into a second murder investigation in this town is the wisest choice.”
She sighed at him and tossed the remote down onto the bed as she rolled elegantly to her feet in one smooth motion. He recognized it all too well as the move of someone well-trained to fight.
“I’m not talking about that part,” she snapped. “I’m talking about us doing something from the shadows to help him with what he’s facing. All he has is two mortal cops.”
“Elisabeth is here. As are several witches and that bouncer of hers. The Viking.”
“Cousin Elisabeth keeps neutral these days according to all of the rumor mills,” Niamh shot back. “He’s up against wolves driven mad, Daman. If we can do something…anything…”
Sighing, Damon pinched the bridge of his nose and asked, “What do you suggest?”
His little sister grinned at that, snatching up the remote to turn off the television, and replied, “We’ll figure it out. I just needed your approval first.”
If Damon was still inclined to believe in deities at all, he might have sworn using one in that moment. Instead, he just sighed and grumbled, “You are just as impulsive as Darragh ever was.”
