The Party "Rescue" the local Blacksmith's daughter.
he party (minus Gregory and Loodachris) begin their day with breakfast in the Green Dragon. After Badaar apologises to Caroc and Maddoc for his behaviour two nights previous, they journey to the Sheriff’s Office to speak to Belor Hemlock. When they arrive Belor is speaking with Jago the blacksmith about his missing daughter. The Party determine that Goblins abducted her and follow the trail into the woods to the Temple of the Knights of Mercy. When they spring their attack the goblins surrender and seem peaceful. They cannot communicate vocally so use images and motions to attempt to gain access to the temple. The goblins refuse and Graak throws and axe at one, starting combat. The goblins are quickly slaughtered and the party moves into the Temple. The party rush into the first room, alerting the group of goblins within. Several flee deeper into the temple and the others are killed. The walls of the first room are decorated with carvings and tapestries chronicling the deeds of the Knights of Mercy. On one wall is written “A Knight is only as good as his word”. The party give chase to the goblins deeper into the temple and are ambushed by a group of hobgoblins and their leader, Buurg. Eiyo is knocked unconscious during the combat and Loodachris arrives to give reinforcements. After defeating Buurg, the blacksmith’s daughter, Bess comes out of hiding and cradles his body, sobbing. She tells the party this was their wedding, and Loodachris is able to read the signs around the room that confirm this. The party find a half empty bottle of love potion, as well as a scroll that will bind someone to another for eternity. Graak suggests using the potion on Bess and violating her, but Hanks knocks her unconscious and says they should take her back to town. The party notice writing on the alter that says “To keep this, you must first give it to me.” Hanks detects a slight movement of air on the east wall and breaks his Morningstar attempting to bash through. The party give up and leave. When they return to town they learn Jago knew about Buurg and Bess’ relationship and had hired the party under false pretences. He is arrested by Belor Hemlock and the party is paid 200 gold. Belor takes Hank’s magic weapon and says he will have it fixed – though it may take time to find a smith with the necessary skills. The party go to Vinder’s General Store and meet Ven Vinder, who sells them a variety of goods including a selection of pipes and a small bag of turquoise powder which they all smoke. He sells Graak a magical ring for 10 gold, and sells Hanks a bottle of Dwarven Stout for 1 gold piece and a personal favour to be decided on at a later date. The party leave the store and travel to Lady Katye’s brothel. Hanks and Badaar share a trio of working girls, Graak enjoys a night in the steam baths, and Eiyo and Loodachris rest.
