Zodak Stormcaller (a.k.a. None)
Zodak Stormcaller. Born at sea during the worst storm in 100 years. Both of his parents were boats-men, and pregnancy is no reason to stay ashore when there is work to be done and the time was not for several weeks yet. They were cough unawares by the storm, lost many mates overboard and were in severe danger of being shipwrecked and drowning. In this maelstrom while his father tried his best to keep the bow into the wind, Maeve, Zodak's mother went into labor, during which she both cursed and prayed to the goddess of storms, to save her and her family from her wrath. Just as tiny Zodack took and first breath, and let out a howl that could be heard over the tempest, as Zodak's mother told it, she received vision that her son would be the price of survival. Just then a huge wave lifted the almost wrecked work-boat, and gently deposited them all as well as two other surviving crew on a sheltered sandy beach only a few miles from their home. Every one took shelter in a near by fishing hut and waited out the storm. In the sunlight of the next morning, Maeve wondered if it had been a dream... until she looked down and noted a birthmark on the face of her child she had not noted before. He had a birthmark shaped as a lightning bolt on his face for all to see.
Growing up was not hard, Little Zodak was known for is temper, and a bellowing voice weather as a screaming toddler or when he wished to communicate of long distances. HE wold not stand down from a fight, even with children much bigger than himself. At the age of twelve, he had gotten into scraps with the son of the village leader one too many times and it was decided that he needed to start his religious training as soon as possible, to learn how to control what was evidently some goddess given talents, mostly for breaking things.
Zodok was sent to Merinport, the largest city with a temple to the Goddess Aurus, where he has spent the last the last seven years in ecclesiastical training, to master and control the his talents as a conduit for the Goddess of Storms, Aurus. This followers of this goddess, like many religious faiths, have differing views on how the worship of Aurus should be handled. Some or bit more radical than others. The so called "Stormlordsd" spend their energy in the pursuit of the destruction of civilization attempting to bring the end of times when all the world will be cleansed again. Their work, often seen as senselessly destructive, has has been known to cast the other followers in a bad light. Most followers of Aurus pray to her because they are at her mercy, from sailors and fishermen, to farmers and travelers. Conduits of Aurus, the mainstream ones at least, feel these "Stormlords" need to be checked wherever possible, and either brought back to the fold, or just destroyed. One of the motto's Zodak lives by; If you can't shelter in the storm, be the storm. He has taken up arms to help protect the word from the blaspheme of the Storm callers, their message of destruction.
Zodak is part of this Caravan which he joined in the town of Little Ferry Because of the current strife between The Bandit Kingdoms and Merrin, He had heard rumor that the sea side village where his parent's had lived had been attacked or destroyed. As it lies in the bandit kingdom to the south of Finn's Landing, near the borders with Merrin, it could be the latest casualty in the border skirmishes, or as whispers in the temple would have, the Stormlords at work again.
