The Mccracken Greataxe
This greataxe has been used by generations of Mccracken knights. Combining beauty and strength, and inspired by the gryphons, it is the ideal weapon for an honorable knight.
The Intrex Steel blades of this axe are modeled after a gryphon's wings, with delicate feathered etching on the flat. At the end of the staff, a counterweight is similarly detailed, evoking a gryphon's tail.
Materials and Construction
The axe is constructed of materials from the Northwoods. The ore required to smelt Intrex Steel, second only to Dragonforged Metal in durability and one of its components, can be found throughout the eastern portions of the mountains, but is currently available only from a single mine in the Northwoods. The staff of the axe is a red-tinted hardwood that is found rarely through the mountains and the northwest of the continent, but is more common and said to grow strongest in the heart of the Northwoods of Valor.
The axe is resistant to the elements and will not be damaged by normal use or exposure to water or fire. It is possible that some forms of magic can harm it, but it is said to be a weapon fit to battle spirits.
Significance
This axe has been passed from generation to generation, most recently from Roselea Mccracken to her nephew Balaire. Many veteran knights instantly recognize the axe as the hallmark of a Mccracken.
