Valnear is a great empire on the verge of civil war (or rather multiple civil wars). As the current ruler is assassinated and the succession is rather unclear, (not to mention, that several of the conquered nations see the situation in the capital as an opportunity to regain their independence), there are countless possibilites for adventure, ranging from shrewd intrigue to all-out war, or anything inbetween.
But aside from volatile politics, Valnear is also a land infused with the arcane, the divine, and the mysterious. As it is foreshadowed by the black and the white moon, there's a silent, but constant struggle between the forces of Good and Evil, and there is always plenty of work for paladins and witch hunters.
And there are those certain places, where no one but the very boldest of adventure seekers dare to thread. Be it the unreachable heights of the Dragon Mountains, the sinister, ancient and magical ruins of the Forgotten, the ancient, yet unconquered forests, or the dark depths of the Realms Below, the risk is always great, but the promise of treasure is even greater.
