Aasimar

Appearance

Aasimar are born from a parent race, and as such will inherit the physical characteristics of their parent race. Aasimar are typically beautiful, in regards to the standards set by their parent race. Despite their extreme physical diversity, there are consistencies among Aasimar that allow them to be identified as separate from their parent races. Aasimar have a bright aura to them, a light that isn't quite visibly perceptible, but registers intuitively. Furthermore, their skin tones (while generally consistent with their parent race) are often a brighter hue due to their innate aura, giving them a paler visage. A third, somewhat more reliable way to distinguish them is their eye color, which is almost always an unnaturally bright shade, rangings in color from silver, golden yellow, and sky blue. Their eyes also have a faint radiating luminance, akin to gentle starlight. The final, guaranteed way to determine an Aasimar, requires use of the moon cycles. When all three moons are full, an Aasimar standing in direct moonlight will manifest a halo of light surrounding their head.

Biology

Any baby born, from any humanoid parents, to any humanoid race, has a chance to be born an Aasimar. It is extremely rare, and has been noted that Humans have the highest emergence of Aasimar (though this may simply be due to Humans having the highest overall population). The last Logicmasters census estimated that 1 out of every 500,000 children will be born an Aasimar. Aasimar are so rare, that it is unknown whether having two Aasimar parents guarantees a child to be born Aasimar. Having one Aasimar parent doesn't appear to increase the odds of a child to be Aasimar.   Aasimar are able to reproduce in the same manner as their parent race, and typically live twice as long as their parent race's lifespan.

History

Aasimar have no communal history. Records of their existence trace back to early in the 4th Epoch, though they may have existed for far longer and been unidentified. Due to the nature of their birth, Aasimar are spread evenly throughout the world. Many choose to migrate and live in devoutly Dichotist nations such as the Darnesian Sultanate, and Arbethian Kingdom, as their race has favor with the religion.   Aasimar are often called Startouched by common folk, and anecdotal evidence suggests Aasimar are born during a significant celestial event. Aasimar have vivid, usually abstract dreams that hold cryptic messages within them. Aasimar also often hear a voice in these dreams, speaking wisdoms within riddles or veiled statements. Aasimar feel an instinctual drive to find the meaning in these dreams, and carry out the purpose of their guiding voice. Many Aasimar attribute the voice they hear to be that of a god. Most religions have opinions regarding their origin and purpose in the world. Dichotists believe them to be chosen children of the Risen, blessed to uphold their ideals and carry out their work. Aasimar have found their way to the highest levels of the Dichotist church, and the Sultan of the Darnesian Sultanate is herself an Aasimar. Some Singulists postulate that Aasimar are a byproduct of the Quintessent's gradual influence towards the aspects of good, stating that it may be only a matter of time before all people are born Aasimar.
