The Omens

The Omens are often considered a individual who has befallen a great curse for one of many reasons. Such as Angering a God, Angering a powerful being, being in the "splash zone" when 2 powerful magics collide, becoming the target of ancient weaponised rage, ect. The individual causes vary from myth to myth.

The curse of being an Omen itself can manifest in various ways. Such as causing widespread destruction wherever they walk, becoming imune to death when it's wanted, losing positive emotions, inflicting supernatural bad luck in others, hieghtening of negative emotions in others, acting psycopathic and sociopathic, loss of empathy, blasting raw magic into the surrounding area at random intervals, an aura of "wrongness" and more.

Due to these manifestations of the curse, most individuals perform horrible actions or become social outcasts. The people aflicted with the curse do know the effect of said curse on those around them but frequently do not care. Some, however do.

The curse itself varies in strength and manifestation. The weaker manifestations can be broken by Time, a gods blessing, the undoing of the curse by the caster or by being at deaths door.

The main way to tell that someone is an Omen is by the manifestation of symbols that wrap around one a part of thier body, these may vary in shape and colour. Anouther method is by thier impecable manners and the great offence they take at the breaking of rudeness and integrity.

The Childeren of Omens often inherit a portion of the Omens curse.

In Literature

In Stitches Stories (such as "The Girl who found the Bright Shadow) The Omens are depicted as Nuetral entities who wear the shape of a Humanoid and ride around in a cart drawn by a pair of black and white horses. These Omens always introduce themselves as "He/She who whips the nights/stars and curses the rude/ignorant". They often help out the protagonist when they act politely, speak humbly and treat thier horses well. These rewards can vary from the gifting of a magical/much needed item to teleporting them to where the need to be.

In Art

In dwarven theatre there is a trope called "The Instigator" who often begins the plot of a tragedy or comedy of misfortunes by thier actions before exiting the play. They are frequently depicted as being freakishly tall with blue symbols wrapped around thier arms. One famous example is "Maurice The Traveling Alchemist" who instigates the plot of "Lovers & Fools" by selling the main character (Hortel) a "Love Potion" that makes several characters fall in love with her and a "Beauty Potion" that grants her the confidence to make her belive she is beautiful.

In Dark Elven plays there is a trope of a tall figure wearing a mask (often depicted with 5 golden eyes on a white background) who has loose bandages around thier forearms that reveal symbols beneath. If this figure is seen standing in the background unacknowledged by the actors, it is a sign of coming tragedy in the play. However if seen standing in the foreground or interact with the characters then it means that an amusing misunderstanding will occur and spiral out of control in the plays plot, often causing strife to the characters.
