Gods and Demigods

Gods

The gods are among the most powerful beings in existence, the rulers of the planes and the world of Vallasea. They embody and have authority over the natural elements that uphold all creation and are worshipped by the various species contained within.   The gods have prohibited themselves from directly interfering in the events of the material world, and so they often instruct their worshippers of their desires or appoint champions to accomplish their goals. They may appear in different forms to their worshippers or disguise themselves to walk amongst mortals, often going unrecognised until they reveal themselves.   The gods are:
  • Amare, goddess of love, beauty, and peace
  • Brintide, god of the ocean, seas, and water
  • Cantio, god of music and the arts
  • Carcerin, god of retribution, suffering, trials, and vengeance
  • Desferr, god of the forge, smithing, craftsmanship, and volcanoes
  • Erudain, god of knowledge and wisdom
  • Faen, goddess of agriculture, fertilty, mountains, and earth
  • Guihol, god of mischief, trickery, and shadows
  • Havita, goddess of life and nature
  • Imperius, god of the heavens, kings, order, and law
  • Kairoment, god of time and seasons
  • Lunella, goddess of the moon, stars, and constellations
  • Malavir, god of disease, plague, and poison
  • Mercuria, goddess of luck and fortune
  • Praeryn, goddess of magic
  • Sepulis, god of death, souls, and the afterlife
  • Solis, god of the sun, light, and fire
  • Somni, goddess of destiny, fate, and dreams
  • Strikour, god of war, battle, and the hunt
  • Verita, goddess of justice, virtue, truth, and oaths
  • Vesania, goddess of chaos, disorder, fear, and darkness
  • Zephira, goddess of the sky, air, rain, and storms
  • Zodis, goddess of planes, dimensions, and portals

Demigods

Throughout history there have been mortals who have achieved legendary deeds and earned the reverence of their fellow man. Those who recognised by the gods themselves are gifted with a piece of divinity and ascend to become demigods. It is not known how many demigods currently exist and their number only grows as history continues. Not all demigods are celestial in nature, they can come form any of the races that live in the planes of existence, such as dragons and fiends.   Demigods are servants to the gods who appointed them and are granted a small piece of authority over that god's domain. They are often worshipped as a part of a single god's court, and reverence is not paid to them directly but instead through them to their god. While not as powerful as gods, demigods are still capable of bestowing power to worshipping clerics or contracted warlocks. While they most often work to further their god's will and serve as heralds to faithful worshippers, demigods also have their own motivations and may attempt to persuade mortals to further their own plans.
