Warmhearth
"Warmhearth stands above the frigid wilds of Adar Vorhvul like a candle, banishing the dark - warm, inviting, and with an almost defiant sense of safety from the horrors outside, it has forever impressed itself upon my soul - whenever I eat a warm bowl of stew after a harsh adventure or behold the loving grace of my beloved after months apart, I am reminded of the far away home that sheltered me in the midst of ice and shadow, of struggle and death - and am forever thankful for its warmth, as I carry it with myself always."
- Calliser of Harthen, A Traveler's Recountings: A book of thoughts and happenings
Warmhearth is a town located on the peak of Advoran's Candle, perching on a cliff above Windcutter Valley in the northern Adar Vorhvul mountain range.
Once the capital of a long extinct mountain clan, it was later discovered and settled by Advoran of Kennon as a shelter for the families displaced by the Revnian Night. Eventually abandoned again after the Second Stirring, it was resettled again by an adventurer named Feraghar, who rebuilt it into a sanctuary and safe haven for adventurers headed into the surrounding harsh lands in search of fame and fortune. The town slowly grew, attracting more and more adventurers and eventually merchants alike, as the mountains became safer and better mapped. The town soon became a center for the entire region and a warm, fiery hearth in a sea of ice and snow, thus earning it its current name.
There is something oddly magical about the town, though nobody knows what exactly. It seems to repel the cold to a degree that doesn't seem to make sense given its surroundings and it immediately gives off an air of cozy, warm and heartfelt nostalgia, making even the most grizzled and violent adventurers soften and relax within its walls. Many have tried to study and even divine the strange aura of this place, but nobody ever found anything except for the aura itself - while magical in nature, nobody has any inkling of its source, origin or nature. The consensus is, at least for now, that this place is simply magical - whether due to consecration by a long forgotten god in the far past or from a specific ley-strand running through it, Warmhearth remaind a place of peace, revelry and warmth in a frigid land withing a cruel world.
