Around people, Aster is the most charming tiefling you’ll ever meet. Though, he finds it exhausting. They grew up in a quiet environment that had no time for chit-chat. Not even he is sure how he’d act if he didn’t need to preform for people.

~Backstory~

A direct descendent of Mephistopheles himself. His grandson, technically. If family lines mattered to the Lords of Hell. Which, they don’t. Aster was quick to realize this.

Well, there was one exception. The youngest of the sons watched out for Aster. This was his uncle, Aelius. Even when the wrath of Mephistopheles rained down on him, he still managed to show Aster a warm a genuine smile.

But things weren’t going well. Aster was unsure if they ever were going well to begin with. Experiments weren’t resolving, and Mephistopheles was getting angrier with each dead end. And so were those most loyal to them. Why Aelius became the scapegoat, Aster had no idea. But he was. And when things came to a head, the people wanted to execute Aelius. He managed to escape, but he left Aster with two things before he left: a necklace to remember and the clear instructions to “get out.”

Aster soon realized why they needed to leave as the malice and hatred that was directed at his uncle was now aimed at him. So they followed Aelius’ wise words and ran. He found himself in a climate similar to that of Cania, but they would consider it warmer.

At first to get by, Aster would steal what he couldn’t afford. But after one too many nights spent on the streets with nowhere to go, they sat in a local tavern at the bar to figure out what he was going to do. They could keep going like this. It was while he was contemplating his option when a tall, older man approached him, complimenting everything about Aster and ordering them drinks. It didn’t take long for him to stumble

upon a viable career. Or at least an easy way to sleep in a bed at night. And maybe bathe.

Aster was well aware his frame leaned more feminine, and growing up as a tiefling of Mephistopheles, they were also familiar with how to charm someone. It didn’t take long before they were sought after by people of the higher class, even just as a hired accessory. He was pretty, and Aster could promise them more for just a steeper price.

He didn’t resent his past. And they found no reason to be disloyal to their grandfather. A powerful wizard’s soul was simply an occasional gift. At least his family hadn’t called for a manhunt like they did with his uncle. Aster didn’t give them time to hate him that much.

While Aster found himself comfortable in his new life, they couldn’t help but feel like there was something more. Something they were missing. Maybe it was this utter loneliness he was running away from or the grief he refused to acknowledge every time he thought of his uncle. Maybe they were becoming tired of this life and needed something new. Maybe he could start over again. They just needed a sign
