The Echoheart
“To touch the heart of the Veil, you must surrender your own.”
The Echoheart is the highest role an Echoweaver can attain—a calling of memory, magic, and quiet endurance. Known as the living conduit between the Veil and the people, the Echoheart holds a position of spiritual leadership and immense responsibility.
More than a title, the Echoheart is the one who tends to the memory of Saelenreach, oversees the growth of new Echoweavers, and maintains the Veilbinding—the great spell that keeps Pluvia City hidden from human eyes. While others weave echoes for healing or ritual, the Echoheart weaves for all of Vailreth.
The Path to Echoheart
The path to becoming Echoheart is long and sacred. It begins with training as an Echoweaver—learning to shape memory, intention, and emotion into resonance. But to be considered for Echoheart, one must also:
- Undergo years of study in historical memory, deep empathy, and resonance theory
- Show unwavering commitment to the emotional stewardship of the Mistkin people
- Complete the Echo Offering, a solemn rite in which the candidate symbolically offers a thread of their personal identity to the Veil, not in loss, but in devotion
The Veil is alive in its own way, and it listens. It remembers. Those who are chosen emerge with an enhanced connection to the memory of the land, able to sense subtle shifts in resonance and emotion. Those who are not chosen are not harmed or shamed—their Offering is still seen as an act of reverence, and they often become respected spiritual guides in their own right.
The Veil’s reasons for choosing an Echoheart are never fully understood. Some say it seeks empathy. Others say it listens for grief that has been carried well.
