Mirelight Refuge

Mirelight Refuge is a swampside settlement tucked deep into the marshlands beyond Pluvia’s southern veil, known for being destroyed, repurposed, or reclaimed more times than anyone can track.

Built atop soft, unstable land that sinks and resurfaces with the seasons, Mirelight was never a permanent place—until the Clearborn made it one. Or tried to.

Originally a meditation and echo-mapping site used by traveling Echoweavers, Mirelight was abandoned after a seasonal flood left its stone markers scattered. It was briefly repurposed as a training site for young Mistkin learning waterwalking techniques. Then as a healing retreat. Then, nothing at all.

The Clearborn returned to it in secret, seeing its instability as a perfect match for their fluid ideology. Mirelight isn’t built once—it’s rebuilt differently every time.

Construction & Reclamation

Mirelight has no formal architecture. Its walkways, platforms, and structures are lashed from reeds, driftwood, and shimmerglass panels, many salvaged from broken homes or forgotten corners of other villages.

It exists in a state of perpetual change:

• Structures float or shift with the tides.
• Homes are redesigned after each flood or storm.
• No map of Mirelight ever stays valid for more than a season.

Some Clearborn say the Veil itself tries to erase the refuge—and each time it does, they build it back with new memory.

Function & Folklore

Mirelight is used as:

• A refuge for exiled Clearborn or dissenting Veiltouched
• A temporary training site for Rainlight Blades
• A library of oral memory, where forbidden songs and phrases are sung aloud during storms

It is also believed to be one of the few places where the Accord of Rainlight was read aloud in full.

No one knows how many times Mirelight has been abandoned. But every rainy season, someone always returns.
