Concoctions

Although not a branch of hybrid-science founded by Elise Davidson, its development and study was increased exponentially thanks to their work. The methods involved in being a Concoctor include taking natural ingredients, mixing them together under certain conditions, and distilling them into a consumable liquid. This drink can then produce miraculous effects in the person who ingests it.  

History

  The history of Concoctions as a scientific/magical branch dates back to the early 20^th century. During that time, advances in distillation and the popularity of home-brewing alcoholic beverages made it easy for accidental Concoctions to be made by an unsuspecting citizen. More often than not, this would end disastrously; and thus was one of the main reasons why the Prohibition Era came to pass.   Starting in the 1950's, Elise Davidson began research into Concoctions once again, taking notes from the Old Way's potions crafting to supplement their own work. This - combined with extensive documentation - allowed Elise to achieve a degree of consistency that had never before been seen in experiments with magic. Their work would ultimately kick-start a revolution in scientific/magic study.  

Practicality

  Concoctions have provided numerous advancements in science and technology, particularly in the field of medicine. Cures for many diseases, as well as various performance-enhancers have been developed and made safe by the work of Concoctors. However, this branch of hybrid science is still new and has its flaws. For instance, the environment that a Concoctor works in is very rigid in its design; their tools must all be made of pure substances and be cleaned constantly. Even the ambient noises may influence how a Concoction manifests its effects.   There is also the threat of home-brewers. Individuals looking to create their own Concoctions without proper training may end up with something extremely hazardous without knowing. This, among other reasons, is why home-brewing is strictly forbidden by the law. Should anyone be found attempting to make concoctions illegally, they may be facing charges of a federal level.   Still, the scientists that call themselves Concoctors study their practice tirelessly in hopes of providing solutions to the nation's problems and have made remarkable strides thus far.
