Rerish Dining Hall
The homes of Rerya do indeed vary, but one thing the Rerish seem to agree upon, as much as they can, are the dining halls. They are no less than three tiers, even in the poorest houses. The floors open beyond the center railing to the fire pit that provides light and heat, magic of course being used to equalize the heat and light. The lord, lady, or lond of the house sit usually in the middle or upper floors.
The feasts are grand and planned a couple years in advance. Livestock and agriculture is raised specifically for this day. Cooks are trained for the specific delicacy, clerics of Corellon and the other Free Four spend a year speaking rites and praying over the house to prosper and thrive during the feasting. The meals are anywhere from four courses to as many as two dozen. Wine, beer, liquor, all begin to make their way to the house.
At the beginning of the dinner parties, each table is provided a bejeweled thimble with a thaumaturgy enchantment to be able to make announcements. The user simply presses the thimble to their necks and the voice enhancing aspect of thaumaturgy operates.
Each table is also provided an enchanted ring of message or, depending on the wealth of the hosts, a ring of sending. These are used to communicate to those above, the magic being limited to just the dining hall area. Various magical enchantments are in place to eavesdrop or keep tabs on whoever is using the equipment and logs are given to the House Keeper. This is a well-known fact and is constantly being circumvented and reestablished by the guests and hosts.
"It's all politicking and eating, but at least we know we are enjoying the food." - Jallyurin Lalimmanu, House of Loncord in Graccia.
