Patch
"Patch" is the slang name for ectadwë (pronounced eck-TAD-vay), a processed fungus sourced from the Boundary Forests north of Fenrir. It is a highly addictive substance that can be injected or smoked, and is a popular drug in and around major Occidental cities.
Patch expands the sensations that you experience, allowing you to feel beyond yourself. For 1d4+1 hours, you gain truesight for 50 feet and the ability to speak with plants and animals. The comedown requires a Constitution saving throw of DC 15 + number of doses (1 dose = 10 milligrams). Upon a failure, you automatically suffer one point of exhaustion immediately after the first long rest that you take, and it lasts until completing your next long rest. If you fail the save by a number greater than 5, you suffer two points of exhaustion. As Patch is an addictive substance, you must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw if you manage to succeed on the comedown save. If you do not succeed on this roll, you will require another dose within the next 48 hours or suffer one level of exhaustion. Each successive failure against this Wisdom saving throw will increase the DC by 1. If you reach the threshold of DC 20 for the Wisdom saving throw and you go 48 hours without consuming Patch, you will die.

Properties
Material Characteristics
In its raw form, Patch can be described as "a simple brown mushroom with a woody stem". When processed, the color of the stem and head are retained but it becomes a coarse powder.
Life & Expiration
Unprocessed Patch will expire fairly quickly without being rooted to a plant host - one week at most. In its processed form, Patch can remain high-quality for approximately three months, but beyond that threshold it will decompose fast.
Consumption of 'expired' Patch can result in insomnia, paralysis, drug-induced hemophilia, and death.
History & Usage
Everyday use
Patch is most commonly used for recreational drug use, traditionally among lower-class citizens.
Refinement
In its found state, Patch can be consumed to achieve a significantly less potent euphoria. However, it must undergo arcane processing to condense its potency into a much smaller form.
Distribution
Trade & Market
Although Patch is not rare in the conventional sense, it is simply very difficult to access due to artificial scarcity by Patch manufacturers in Fenrir and the challenge of surviving the Boundary Forests long enough to harvest the material. It is primarily distributed by criminal syndicates in Fenrir, the most prominent being the Venomous Rose.
Law & Regulation
Patch is a felony in Fenrir. Possession is punishable by up to 50 years of prison time; distribution is punishable up to a life sentence; manufacturing is punishable by execution.

Color
Patch is a woody brown color, similar to tree bark.
