Sirens (ˈsīrəns)
Singers of the Deep. Lurkers of the Sea.
Dwellers of the deep ocean, the Sirens are an aquatic species with a powerful voice. Able to entice mortals with rich songs and the voices of their loved ones, sirens are known for leading sailors to a watery grave.
Living in the underwater city of Nepthis, the sirens live under the shared rule of the Leviathan, Praic and the Queen, Sealis.
Siren Features
- Ability Score Increase. Your Wisdom and Charisma scores increase by 1.
- Age. Sirens have relatively long lifespans. They become physically mature at 20 but can live up to 500 years naturally.
- Alignment. As lurers of sailors to their death, Sirens are typically neutral or evil.
- Size. Sirens are typically 5-6 feet.
- Speed. Your swimming speed is 30.
- Darkvision. As a deepsea creature, you can see in dim light and darkness for up to 60 feet.
- Amphibious. You can breathe both air and water.
- Call. Whenever you make a Charisma (Performance) check to sing, you are considered proficient in the Performance skill and add double your proficiency bonus to the check, instead of your normal proficiency bonus. In addition, You know the friends cantrip. When you reach 3rd level, you can cast the charm person spell once and need to finish a long rest before you can cast it again. When you reach 5th level, you can also cast the suggestion spell once and need to finish a long rest before you can cast it again. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells.
- Charm Resistance. You have advantage against being charmed.
- Languages. You speak Primordial Aquan and Common.
Appearance
Physique
Based off of a variety of different fish, the Sirens have a humanoid top half that transforms into an aquatic tail at the bottom. Their hands are usually webbed and they have large-set eyes and long, sleek limbs. A single fin often extrudes from their back, blending humanoid upper body with aquatic tail.Additional Information
Social Structure
Sirens live under two rulers. The Dark Prince, Praic, is involved in most political affairs and also deals with a lot of the internal structure of Nepthis. The Queen, Sealis, handles most militaristic affairs. She is known as the "Strength of the Sirens" and is known to be much colder and sterner than the more smooth-talking Dark Prince.
